Sonnet III

sonnet3.jpg

Sonnet III

As sun sets on the beauty of this day,
In hope that it has not been all for nought,
The complexity of that for which I pray,
It’s truth lie in the lifetime blessing sought.

With beauty, love and dreams we have been blessed.
A moment not too soon I felt your heart,
This has me needing more than your caress,
Two souls as one we’ve made a gentle start.

As softly colours blend and crimson, green;
Violet, blue and yellow flood the sky,
Although I’d love to share this wondrous scene,
I raise my eyes and watch you wave goodbye.

And how my gentle heart was soon dismayed,
Oh, I most sadly wish that you had stayed!

Celestial Dream

source

Celestial Dream

Celestial bodies shine up high,
As we ride beneath the midnight sky.
A Heavenly light to brighten our way,
As we travel beyond yesterday.

Perhaps it’s just an angel’s love,
One more chance from up above,
To ride beneath the stars together,
To be free as one forever.

Maybe we share,
More than we could have believed,
In our past hopes and dreams.
And baby we’re there,
Alone beneath the moonlit sky,
Making love as one on high,
In my celestial dream.

Down the long road through the night,
The past is dim, the future bright.
An angel in the stars above,
Is how I feel wrapped in your love.

All we seek is what we find,
As we open up our hearts and minds,
Silvershine on passionate fire,
Celestial blessings take us higher.

Maybe we share,
More than we could have believed,
In our past hopes and dreams.
An unanswered prayer,
Alone beneath the moonlit sky,
Making love as one on high,
In my celestial dream.

Sonnet V

source

Sonnet V

I’ve been afraid of sonnets for so long.
A poet I can never truly claim,
Myself to be. The rhythm is just wrong.
Dear goodness! I am totally ashamed.

Odes, ballads, sextets, free verse and haiku,
Have never been a challenge for my pen;
But when I read a sonnet proper, true,
Escape from rhythm taunts me, once again.

How am I to write a proper sonnet,
If I can’t hear the rhythm in my head?
Imag’ry with frills and lace upon it,
Keeps haunting me, but still the meter’s dead.

Lord, help me find some way I can control,
This sonnephobya torturing my soul.

To New Depths

pianorosesm.jpg

To New Depths

Two hearts ensconced
Upon the bench
I remember-
Forever etched
Upon my mind
Upon my soul

Smooth ivory touch
With fundamentals
Of an ebon shade
As demi-steps in dark
Turned magnanimous rapture
Of synchronistic souls

In waves of
Symphonic splendor
We dreamed-
Holding fast to
Our affinity-
Crescendo building

Softly unveiling
Transparent heart
To tranquil eyes
Passion carried us
To new depths
Of wonder

Sincerity flowed
And beauty surrounded-
Fascinating our world
While gentle rays of sunlight
Subtly wavered-
Into the daylight

Awakening of peace
Today is mine
Now savoring tidbits
Of moments-
Of fingers
Unlocking torn heart
Within to find
A healing home
For a broken soul

The War

source

The War

You may have lost this battle,
But you have not lost the war.
This demon with which you struggle,
Is one that you’ve known before.

Fight him with all of your power,
Release yourself from his claws,
Your sword plunged deep to his belly,
Your anger exposing his flaws.

Strike now for his eyes that watch you,
With mockery in his evil gaze.
Your love is your mightiest weapon,
Use it to break through this haze.

So you can move into the future,
Past the demon of your yesterdays,
To end all of your pain and confusion,
And today break away from your chains.

Open your heart to the future,
Shine your light as never before,
Only then will you know the experience,
And the glory of winning…
The War.
