Alas good knight, why hast thou turned around? Thy message reached me, but it makes no sense. To turn and run at thy sweet love’s expense, Though thee hast reached halfway to proving ground? |

So Many Things
There are so many things I wish to say, I bite my tongue so not to cause a stir. So many things, in oh— so many ways. To stir would cause the pot to overturn. Just like I do most each and everyday, Guess I'll just settle down right here and learn, And wait for signs to fall down from the sky, And send me where his heart calls by and by. |

The Poet
The poet thinks in cryptic patterns But mostly he observes Absorbing his surroundings To mind— His heart A rhythmic extension Of his soul Words Images Thoughts Dreams Beliefs Emotion Entwined within his verse He creates a thing of beauty A thing we know As Poetry |

Sonnet III
As sun sets on the beauty of this day, In hope that it has not been all for nought, The complexity of that for which I pray, It’s truth lie in the lifetime blessing sought. With beauty, love and dreams we have been blessed. A moment not too soon I felt your heart, This has me needing more than your caress, Two souls as one we’ve made a gentle start. As softly colours blend and crimson, green; Violet, blue and yellow flood the sky, Although I’d love to share this wondrous scene, I raise my eyes and watch you wave goodbye. And how my gentle heart was soon dismayed, Oh, I most sadly wish that you had stayed! |

Sonnet XVII
Thee knows thou art the one my heart adores, And that there is not one thing I want more, Than to sit beside thee on a grassy knoll, And trace along the contours of thy face. With gentle fingers lovingly I’d touch, So I could show thee just how very much, I love thee and appreciate thy grace. At long last free from all majestic rule, Away from those about us who’d betray, A kindness soft and gentle as a dove, We’ll find a way to share our courtly love, Appreciate it as a polished jewel, Perhaps my faithful champion one day. |

Sonnet XII

Amazing heart that fits mine as a glove, A smile into my soul is what you draw. I can't imagine life without your love, Inspiring me and never taking pause. You're constantly supportive of my cause, No matter what my state be right or wrong, While overlooking all my many flaws. Inside your soul is right where mine belongs. Your melody portrays the perfect song. Each note reflects a moment lost in time; A synchronistic link between us strong; Two hearts united by one soul, sublime. My darling, don't you know that I can't find, A way to get your smile off of my mind? |

Full Circle
The man in my heart is one to behold, He has taught me to live again, That love can be true, That it's safe to trust another human heart, And that it's not a crime to be human myself. From the pain of torment and abuse, I have come full circle. I can now live and love again, I am free to be who I am, And spread my wings to fly. And when I spread my wings, I will not fly far, For I have built my nest, my home, Right here in his arms, And here I will remain... —Michele Cameron Drew |
