Happy New Year!

source

Here we sit
Amidst the snow
Watch the lights
A brilliant show

Hopeful moment
Dropping ball
Another new year
Changes fall

Passing time
From day to day
In a moment
All can change

Seems yesterday
'twas years ago
Fleeting moments
In a row

Another new year
Has been spent
More resolutions
Came and went

Some realized
Some not so much
Some left behind
Amidst the dust

Guess tomorrow
We'll be here again
Ringing in
2010

So today
Wish you the best
A new year better
Than all the rest

My dearest friends
Auld lang syne
Happy New Year...
2009!

Christmas Tense

As I linger,
At the lights,
That represent the birth,
Of the blessed one.

I remember Christmas past,
Five generations wrapped around,
A great firtree, filled with light,
Exchanging gifts on the,
Anniversary of his birth.

I remember all that was good.
The light that grew in my heart,
As each year passed and,
He became so important to me.

I remember the warmth and love,
In that room.
The smiles, the happiness,
Of a family.

As years went by the faces changed...
Some were lost, others were new,
But that feeling always the same.

I look deeper into the lights,
At Christmas present,
I see children happy, a small group,
Santa has come.

But the decorations have withered,
Grown old, and commercialism has,
Taken grace away from this day.

My feelings remain the same.
They cannot take my faith from me,
Praise the Lord.

Deeper still I look..
At Christmas Future.
A large clan being merry,
As I think back of old days,
Of friends, Of you.
I need not think of you,
For you are there with me.
As you are now, if only...
In my heart.

Whatever tense of time,
You have been, and always will be,
Right here beside me,
In your home...
In my heart.

Merry Christmas...
-Angel

An Abstract Battle

source
You read my book of life,
As if it were a novel.
As if the moments,
Should be contiguous
As is the progression of a life,
But they are not.
Missing sections,
Jumping from a single chapter,
To a dozen later,
And then back again.

In a single stanza,
The years an abstract battle,
Of confusion to unravel.
Each post in fragments scattered,
Each page a story of its own,
Each stanza a song in its own right.
My world... my life...
Each moment buried,
Like a forgotten jewel,
In the mine that is my mind,
In remembrance,
For all time.

A Different World

Quill and parchment
Of antiquity
What used to be
The artist's tools

Laptop, Google
And desktop space
A whole new face
Contemporary jewels

A deepening contrast
Exhibited today
It's not the way
We learned in school

A different world
Not to complain
But they have changed
All of the rules

Full Circle

The man in my heart is one to behold,
He has taught me to live again,
That love can be true,
That it's safe to trust another human heart,
And that it's not a crime to be human myself.

From the pain of torment and abuse,
I have come full circle.
I can now live and love again,
I am free to be who I am,
And spread my wings to fly.

And when I spread my wings,
I will not fly far,
For I have built my nest, my home,
Right here in his arms,
And here I will remain...

In an Hour of Darkness

source

In an hour of darkness,
Held hostage in the past,
A victim of my very soul,
Places I could never take you,
Came rushing back to haunt me,
And left darkness in the road.

I knew that someday,
I would be returning,
To face that darkness once again.
But I was not alone this time,
For you felt my teardrops,
As they whispered on the wind.

You listened to my heart,
And like a beacon in the dark,
You were the torch that lit the way.
Then you led me through your eyes,
To places I could never find,
And released me from the pain.

Those once haunting ghosts,
That were pulling me so close,
Are now vanquished from the night.
And as the darkness folds,
I have come back home,
And can finally see the light.

And in the light of day,
I still can see your face,
But everything's anew.
As beyond the night we grow,
I hope you'll always know,
How much.. is thanks to you.
