Where I Belong Soon my love —Michele Cameron Drew |
In darkness awakening, First glimpse of snow white, Brought beauty of wonderment, Like shimmering diamonds, 'neath new morning’s light. A frozen paradise waited. Oblivious to the chill, Warm mittens and overcoats, We rushed to the sled race, Atop Starbird Hill. We flew down this mountain, Blustery wind to frozen face, On a sheet of ice and snow. Oh, what fun we had then, In our Starbird race. And as the day closed, Its beauty wouldn’t subside. Sleepy heads in reverence, Thinking of day’s events, We gently closed our eyes. In darkness awakening, First glimpse of snow white, Brought beauty of wonderment, Like shimmering diamonds, 'neath new morning’s light. |
When your eyes looked at mine, You could see into my soul. And I was fascinated by, The depth of your perception. Then a smile crossed your lips, Like sunshine through the morning mist. And though I don't know why, I felt such a strong connection. Across a crowded room, I heard the wheels of your mind, In synchronicity with mine, As one together marking time. If for only just a moment, Look to me again and smile, So I can look into your eyes, And remember for all time, The way it makes me feel. |
The poet thinks in cryptic patterns But mostly he observes Absorbing his surroundings To mind— His heart A rhythmic extension Of his soul Words Images Thoughts Dreams Beliefs Emotion Entwined within his verse He creates a thing of beauty A thing we know As Poetry |
I happ'd to pass it by just yesterday. It truly made me wish this summer's yield. Would bring me there before you face to face. The colours in the sky were graceful soft. In hues of salmon, lavendar and blue. My head right here, but my heart was aloft. The only thing 'twas missing there was you. We'd talk about today and long ago, And holding hands we'd joke along the way, Then laugh until our cheeks were all aglow. I hope that we can find a moment soon, To visit there one lovely afternoon. |
Entertaining hands The colour of confusion Manipulating like a monarch In absolute power Audience of dying voices Muted— Will obey |
But payroll says my paycheck will be docked, Because I didn't get to work on time? I wasn't due to work till 8:00! I always call ahead if I'm delayed. It doesn't make a bit of sense to me, For thirty minutes clocked to not be paid. To figure out that it was their misplay. I hope they don't perceive me as a shrew. That's not the image I hope to display. ‘Cause I'll be there by 7:38. |
Memories of a love so long ago, Weigh upon my dreams tonight, And drift on as the sweetest of distractions, Into my waking life. A few stolen moments whispering, Taunting my soul with the hunger For more of him. Perhaps we should have loved as if We'd never have the chance again. Plucked from his life as easily as our Earth Turns to greet the morning sun. A few stolen moments whispering, Taunting my soul with the hunger For more of him. Lord, please let him come to me. Shower those memories so sweet upon his heart. Let us steal a few more moments... Or perhaps a lifetime. —Michele Cameron Drew |
Seeds of evil lie in root Covering like a thicket About the innocent one Deluding common sense Of an honorable heart Deficient of judgement In the folly Of good intention Moments of clarity lie Within the tangled labyrinth Reaching skyward- Neurologically twisted Thwarted by derangement Never to be unveiled Within the eye Of the broken mind |
