Today's Dream

Today's indulgent melodies,
Daydream perfect visions,
Painted of moonlit moments,
As eyes dance like gemstones of desire,
Along the ocean shoreline.

Sonnet XXIV

Alas good knight, why hast thou turned around?
Thy message reached me, but it makes no sense.
To turn and run at thy sweet love’s expense,
Though thee hast reached halfway to proving ground?

So Many Things

There are so many things I wish to say,
I bite my tongue so not to cause a stir.
So many things, in oh— so many ways.
To stir would cause the pot to overturn.
Just like I do most each and everyday,
Guess I'll just settle down right here and learn,
And wait for signs to fall down from the sky,
And send me where his heart calls by and by.

In the Setting of the Sun

The sun is setting all around us
In the colours of today
It lights our way with His love
And warms us with His grace

From this collage of dreams and memories
In waves we ride the tide
Each moment pure and lovely
As two tender hearts collide

Yesterday we sailed together
Rediscovering the truth
And the beauty of the days
That we shared in our youth

Today you're far away
Yet you feel so close to me
I could never have imagined
It would mean so much, you see

Tomorrow still the future
But no means to an end
I know now that forever
I will always call you friend

No matter where we are
In the end when life is done
My heart will rest beside yours
In the setting of the sun

Watercolor

The morning after love
A gentle tender whisper
In the daybreak as we rose
Bagels and lox for you
Just cream cheese for me
Our favorite cafe` table
As we sipped a darkened brew

Smiles endlessly shining
Eyes singing delightfully
Dancing in their shadows
As they penetrated
My quiet composure
A somewhat pleasant stress
Washed over me
In my naivete

And I whispered
I love you...

Sonnet XIX

Sonnet XIX

My lover's kiss was like a million stars,
Across the jaded purple velvet night,
And then the starlight falling from his eyes,
Reflected on this halo burning bright.

His angel, strong and beautiful, was I,
Who saved him from himself one fateful night,
And left behind with him my tender heart,
Along beside a tear at morning light.

Passed twenty years, my calling once again,
Return me to the depths from whence I came;
The needs there of a solitary friend,
Upon who's heart I once had staked my claim.

Oh, how can I but send to him my love?
His angel from the Heavens up above.

Reconnection

Reconnection

Tenderness so long ago
Hanging about mind's edge
Taunting, teasing
Playful moments of youth

Reconnection overwhelms
Touching surface of heart
With evocative dreams
Torturing soul

Warm light emanating
From this memory
This dream of old
Expectations limitless
Falling to abyss
Of emotion

Confusion building
From this depth
Hearts withdraw
In fear that old wounds open

Friendship, reflection
Their greatest desire
And should it be
The will of Him
Someday
Maybe more

Where I Belong

Where I Belong

Closing my eyes
My mind wanders
Drifting off
In daydreams of azure
I see reflections
Of myself— swimming
In the deep oceans
That are your eyes

Soon my love
I'll be drowning
And should I perish
Then so be it
Let the world go on
Without me
Because this—
Is where I belong

Starbird Hill

In darkness awakening,
First glimpse of snow white,
Brought beauty of wonderment,
Like shimmering diamonds,
'neath new morning’s light.

A frozen paradise waited.
Oblivious to the chill,
Warm mittens and overcoats,
We rushed to the sled race,
Atop Starbird Hill.

We flew down this mountain,
Blustery wind to frozen face,
On a sheet of ice and snow.
Oh, what fun we had then,
In our Starbird race.

And as the day closed,
Its beauty wouldn’t subside.
Sleepy heads in reverence,
Thinking of day’s events,
We gently closed our eyes.

In darkness awakening,
First glimpse of snow white,
Brought beauty of wonderment,
Like shimmering diamonds,
'neath new morning’s light.

The Way it Makes Me Feel

When your eyes looked at mine,
You could see into my soul.
And I was fascinated by,
The depth of your perception.

Then a smile crossed your lips,
Like sunshine through the morning mist.
And though I don't know why,
I felt such a strong connection.

Across a crowded room,
I heard the wheels of your mind,
In synchronicity with mine,
As one together marking time.

If for only just a moment,
Look to me again and smile,
So I can look into your eyes,
And remember for all time,
The way it makes me feel.

The Poet

The poet thinks in cryptic patterns
But mostly he observes
Absorbing his surroundings
To mind—
His heart
A rhythmic extension
Of his soul

Words
Images
Thoughts
Dreams
Beliefs
Emotion
Entwined within his verse

He creates a thing of beauty
A thing we know
As Poetry

Sonnet XVIII

There is a little church beside a field.
I happ'd to pass it by just yesterday.
It truly made me wish this summer's yield.
Would bring me there before you face to face.

The colours in the sky were graceful soft.
In hues of salmon, lavendar and blue.
My head right here, but my heart was aloft.
The only thing 'twas missing there was you.

I wish that we could walk there every day.
We'd talk about today and long ago,
And holding hands we'd joke along the way,
Then laugh until our cheeks were all aglow.

I hope that we can find a moment soon,
To visit there one lovely afternoon.

The Colour of Confusion

Entertaining hands
The colour of confusion
Manipulating like a monarch
In absolute power

Audience of dying voices
Muted—
Will obey

Sonnet VIII

I swiped my card at 7:39.
But payroll says my paycheck will be docked,
Because I didn't get to work on time?
I wasn't due to work till 8:00!

I just don't understand how this can be.
I always call ahead if I'm delayed.
It doesn't make a bit of sense to me,
For thirty minutes clocked to not be paid.

Two supervisors I had to pursue,
To figure out that it was their misplay.
I hope they don't perceive me as a shrew.
That's not the image I hope to display.

I vow tomorrow I will not be late,
‘Cause I'll be there by 7:38.

Stolen Moments

Memories of a love so long ago,
Weigh upon my dreams tonight,
And drift on as the sweetest of distractions,
Into my waking life.

A few stolen moments whispering,
Taunting my soul with the hunger
For more of him.

Perhaps we should have loved as if
We'd never have the chance again.
Plucked from his life as easily as our Earth
Turns to greet the morning sun.

A few stolen moments whispering,
Taunting my soul with the hunger
For more of him.

Lord, please let him come to me.
Shower those memories so sweet upon his heart.
Let us steal a few more moments...
Or perhaps a lifetime.

Good Intention

Seeds of evil lie in root
Covering like a thicket
About the innocent one
Deluding common sense
Of an honorable heart
Deficient of judgement
In the folly
Of good intention

Moments of clarity lie
Within the tangled labyrinth
Reaching skyward-
Neurologically twisted
Thwarted by derangement
Never to be unveiled
Within the eye
Of the broken mind

Spring's Solicitude

 source

With winter's icy breath fleeting,
Spring's solicitude brushes,
Divine nectarous orchards,
With an ambiance of color.

Softly she summons,
The sweetest of blossoms,
To deliver the fruit,
Of summer ambrosia.

Sonnet VII

This sonnet, written in November was on a bet. Someone bet me $50 that I couldn't write a sonnet about the news headlines for that day.

I asked if I was able to write two, would I double my money and made $100 writing this piece in about 20 mins. I wish I could always make $300/hr. Wouldn't it be nice?

Sonnet VI

Sonnet VI

As autumn closes and the days grow cold,
Skies turn from luminous to murky grey.
The leaves of amber, crimson, brown and gold,
Have fallen and most all have blown away.

The barren trees embedded in the Earth,
Stand seeming lost and sad within their mire,
Lackluster as my heart within its dearth,
Need light of love or else they will expire.

As wind and rain begin to fall and moan,
I am like stone upon deserted shore,
A frozen soul that needs to find its home,
Abandoned heart left only wanting more.

Release your light, your love, your warmth and bring,
Us back to blissful beauty of the spring.
